Everything you need to know about Skyhatch ceiling access systems.
General Questions
What is the maximum size available for SKYHATCH trap doors?
Our ZENITH+ series (CTD25) can be manufactured up to 18′ x 8′ (5500 x 2400mm). This is currently the largest modular ceiling trap door available globally.
What ceiling materials can SKYHATCH accommodate?
Skyhatch shutters support any 10–12 mm ceiling finish material, including:
- MR Gypsum board
- Pre-laminated particle board
- ACP
- Laminate
- Veneer on WPC/base board
- Honeycomb lightweight panels
- Calcium silicate board
The finish is applied on-site to match the surrounding ceiling, making the trap door visually invisible.
What is the visible groove size?
Our CTD25 ZENITH+ & Planea series features an innovative sliding hinge design that leaves only a 2-3mm visible groove around the shutter, making it blend seamlessly with the ceiling.
Are SKYHATCH trap doors certified?
Yes, SKYHATCH trap doors are GreenPro certified by the Product & Services Council under the Confederation of Indian Industry CII body, the only accredited authority in india to certified products for sustibinity. We are proud to be the First ceiling trap door manufacturer in India to receive this green certification.
How are the shutters secured?
Each shutter is secured with steel safety wires and features both an Allen cal Lock and push-lock locking mechanism for enhanced security. The innovative sliding hinge system prevents the shutter from falling while ensuring smooth and easy access.
What sizes are available for Skyhatch systems?
1. Planea (CTD26): Available in fixed standard sizes — 300×300, 450×450, 600×600, and 600×1200 mm.
2. Zenith+ (CTD25): Fully customizable to any dimension. Standard configurations include 900×1500, 1500×2400, and 2400×6000 mm and any other size. Systems as large as 18×8 feet (5500×2400 mm) have also been delivered.
How is Skyhatch different from other ceiling access systems?
Skyhatch stands out because it:
- Offers large-format, fully customizable sizes in multiple shutters
- Carries GreenPro Ecolabel Type 1 certification
- Uses a proprietary sliding hinge to prevent shutters from falling
- Can be fabricated and modified on-site
Unlike typical aluminium designs, which are limited to small fixed sizes and may warp in large formats.
Is Skyhatch Greenpro IGBC certified?
Yes. Skyhatch (IQUBX CTD) carries the Greenpro Ecolabel Type 1 certification from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC)..
It is the first ceiling access system in India with this certification, making it suitable for IGBC, LEED, and other green building standards.
Can the trap door size be modified on-site?
Yes. Skyhatch systems have a non-crimped profile design, allowing them to be cut and modified on-site for minor adjustments.
The Zenith+ system also supports full on-site fabrication for custom sizing requirements.
Can Skyhatch systems be reused or relocated?
Yes.
- The aluminium frame can be removed and reinstalled in a new location.
- The ceiling infill material can be replaced independently without disturbing the frame.
This reduces refurbishment costs and construction waste.
How do I specify dimensions when ordering?
- Orders should specify the A-size (opening size) — the visible opening in the gypsum board.
- The frame (B-size) is automatically 26.8 mm for ZENITH+ and 29mm for planea larger on all sides.
- The outer frame flange overlaps the gypsum board edge by 26.8 mm.
Installation is ideally done before the final gypsum board layer is fixed.
